Chamblee on the move

The ABC takes a look at development going on in and around Chamblee. The article makes a number of points about Chamblee's pending revival:
  • Proximity to MARTA rail and the increasing cost of gas

  • Recent legislation promoting mixed-use development

  • Proximity to major draws (Buckhead, Town: Brookhaven, the GM plant redevelopment)
It is good to see at least two things that localities can control (transit, smart-growth legislation) pay off by attracting development. The article also mentions a number of developments and development sites:
  • Ambling Development Partners mixed-use hotel and residential development at Clairmont and P'tree Inds.

  • International Village at Chamblee (Archetype Management Co.), 30-acre mixed use near the MARTA station

  • Chamblee Plaza, a 20 acres site currently for sale and being marketed as a redevelopment opportunity
I am taking Saturday classes next door to Town: Brookhaven, and will take some pictures next week. It will also give me a chance to drive over to these sites and sink my teeth into them. I'm sure I will have something to say about Town: Brookhaven and International Village, since the site plans are available online.
